In early May 2009 two York 'mumpreneurs', Ruth Holden Harris, owner of Zak&Flo in Bishopthorpe and Heather Booth, owner of Expecting on Gillygate, joked about taking over one of the empty shops in York and turning it into a department store. This store would encorporate many of the small businesses throughout York who are dedicated to providing a personal shopping experience for parents to be, parents and their children.

The staff working there would all be owners of their independent businesses and as such, would be committed to offering excellent customer service and good quality products. They would also be either parents or specialists in their field, so any customer could buy with confidence, knowing that they were receiving the best possible knowledge, help and individual advice available.

Unfortunately they knew that it wasn’t really a possibility, so instead they decided to develop the concept via a loyalty scheme throughout these same independent businesses, so that their customers could enjoy the same advantages albeit at different locations. The Parent Power Card was born.

Any customer can get a free Parent Power Card and they will then receive various discounts and offers on presentation of their loyalty card in any of the shops or businesses involved. Each retailer has different incentives varying from discounts, gift vouchers, special packages and free delivery.

Any current or seasonal offers will be shown on the Upcoming Events page of the web-site and these will be updated on a regular basis so it will always be worth checking the Parent Power Card website before you go out to shop!
